Summary:
Under the supervision of the Med/Surg Director or designee, ensures the unit runs smoothly by performing clerical duties, ordering supplies, and maintaining the physical environment of the nurses' station.
The primary patients provided care on the Med-Surg Unit are adults and geriatric patients.
The Unit Secretary must be knowledgeable in recognizing signs and symptoms of abuse or neglect, and cognizant of safety issues, both environmental and medical.
He/She must be capable of functioning as receptionist and liason between Med/Surg Units and other hospital departments and the Medical Staff.
REQUIREMENTS:
High School graduate or equivalent.
Previous administrative experience.
Prefer one (1) year of acute care experience as a Unit Secretary but not required.
Must be well organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.
Understanding and familiarity with medical terminology.
Above average skills and knowledge of computers.
Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and staff.
PAY / BENEFITS Estimated pay:
$19.
00 to $23.
00 per hour based on qualifications (including but not limited to experience, education, certifications, and licensure where applicable).
