ABOUT THE POSITIONThe County of Riverside's Department of Riverside University Health System seeks multiple Senior Food Service Workers to join our Kitchen and Nutrition Services team in Moreno Valley and Riverside.
Under general supervision, the Senior Food Service Worker performs the more difficult, semi-skilled tasks related to the preparation and serving of food; serves as a lead worker over Food Service Workers performing routine clean up, food preparation, and serving tasks; performs other related duties as required.
The most competitive candidates will have at least one year in the preparation and serving of food in hospital setting.
This position does require the incumbent to work on the weekends.
There are two different schedules for this position:

org/en-us EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIESoWhen assigned to perform the more skilled duties, follow standard recipes in the preparation of salads, desserts and baked goods.
oServe food and drinks in cafeteria; serve customers; clean coffee pots, grill, counter, and cafeteria tables; prepare coffee, toast, eggs, and sandwiches.
oSet up and serve special dinners; push loaded food carts from kitchen to units or dining hall, returning them to kitchen after meals; operate dishwashing machine; wash pots and pans.
oPrepare and serve patient meal trays; utilizing diet software, take meal orders and assist patients with selecting meals as needed; generate meal tickets for patients.
oWhen serving in a lead capacity:
observe and inspect the work of Food Service Workers involved in the preparation and serving of food and clean-up activities, ensuring adherence to safety and sanitation regulations and practices, and verifying work is accomplished properly and efficiently.
oProvide technical supervision and guidance to improve the quality and quantity of work performed by Food Service Workers; assist in on-the-job training of Food Service Workers in a variety of assignments.
oAssist in the supervision of tray line workers preparing food trays for patients or wards; ensure accuracy of diet and proper portions, appearance and arrangement of food on trays.
oObtain and record temperature of food, ensuring proper temperature controls in the transportation of food.
oMay retrieve food items from supply room and or refrigerator/freezer for production purposes; may sweep and mop floors and remove trash from designated work areas.
oPerform Food Service Worker duties as necessary; may prepare and submit documented incident reports.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation:
Graduation from high school or attainment of a satisfactory score on a G.

Experience:
One year in the preparation and serving of food.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATIONTAP BENEFITS (for TAP positions only):
For the first 1,000 hours of work in a fiscal year, the employee is enrolled in and contributes to the County Temporary/Part-Time Employees' Retirement Plan, which is a 401(a) defined benefit pension plan.
The County also contributes to the 401(a) on behalf of the employee.
During this time, neither the employee nor the County pays into Social Security, and the employee is not enrolled in CalPERS.
After 1,000 hours of work in any fiscal year, the employee and County stop contributing to the 401(a) and begin to pay into Social Security.
The employee is also enrolled in CalPERS and begins to make contributions.
Veterans Preference:
The County has a Veterans Preference Policy.

MISCELLANEOUS RETIREMENT:
County of Riverside has three retirement Tiers through the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS).
Tier I (Classic Member - Formula 3% @ 60):
Applicable to current and former County of Riverside local miscellaneous employees hired prior to 08/24/2012 and did not withdraw CalPERS contributions.
The employee contribution is eight (8%) percent.
Tier II (Classic Member - Formula 2% @ 60):
Applicable to local miscellaneous employees 1) hired after 08/23/2012 through 12/31/2012; 2) Previously employed with another CalPERS contracting public agency or a reciprocal retirement system, with a break in service of less than six months between the separation date with the previous employer and the appointment date with the County of Riverside.
The employee contribution is seven (7%) percent.
Tier III (PEPRA New Member - Formula 2% @ 62):
Applicable to CalPERS local miscellaneous new members hired on or after the implementation of the Public Employees' Pension Reform Act of 2013 (PEPRA) which took effect January 1, 2013.
As of July 1, 2020, the employee contribution is 7.
25% and subject to change annually.
A new member is defined as any of the following:
A new hire who enters CalPERS membership for the first time on or after January 1, 2013, and who has no prior membership in any California Public Retirement System.
A new hire who enters CalPERS membership for the first time on or after January 1, 2013, and who was a member with another California Public Retirement System prior to that date, but who is not subject to reciprocity upon joining CalPERS.
A member who first established CalPERS membership prior to January 1, 2013, and who is rehired by a different CalPERS agency after a break in service of greater than six (6) months.
CalPERS refers to all members that do not fit within the definition of a new member as classic members.
Contribution rates are subject to change based on the County of Riverside annual actuarial valuation.

DISABILITY:
Short-term Disability benefit pays up to a maximum of $461.
54 weekly, payable up to a maximum of 52 weeks.
POST RETIREMENT MEDICAL CONTRIBUTION:
A monthly contribution is made by the County towards retiree health insurance offered through the County as governed by the applicable Memorandum of Understanding.
OTHER:
There may be other benefit provisions as specified in the applicable Memorandum of Understanding.
